Is it better to put foil pp on your stove burner plates or not?
Just bought my FIRST stove, I've been told by MANY to cover the burner plates (Not sure what it is called really sorry. But the part under the burners on a stove, if that helped any lol) with foil paper. As others have said to NOT cover them as it can mess with the cooking time and the burners also. So do you cover them, or do you not?
Thank u all who take time out of their lives to replies to this.
Aloha.

What you are asking about are drip pans. And no, do not cover them if it is an electric stove. Doing so will cause your burner to short out over time. If you look in your owners manual, I’m sure it will tell you specifically not to do it. You also shouldn’t put any aluminum foil under the the element in the oven for the same reason. The cost to replace them are fairly cheap with the 6" about $1.50 and the 8" is about $2.50. You can also get them now in black if you wish.
You can get those cover thingys from any dollar store…
yes i do cover it help keep my stove clean..
It can keep them clean, but if you can take your (unplug) your burners from your stove like mine, the plates are really easy to clean too
for the sake of EZ TO CLEAN–then cover them—you can buy pre made liners that set in there–makes it even easier. just throw it in the garbage & plop a new one in there as for the changing of the cooking time—not!!
when I had an element stove, I always covered the burner plates cuz they were such a @!&$* to clean. I have a glass top, self cleaning unit now heh heh
true –they will discolor after awhile because of the trapped heat, however, they will be covered with foil so no one is gonna see it anyways lol–plus if the discoloring bothers you, new burner plates are inexpensive
The burner plates are designed to keep grease and food from falling into the area under the burners. Covering them with foil may keep them clean but will also trap heat under the foil and may cause some discoloration of the stainless steel. The best solution is to just clean them regularly to prevent the build up from burning onto the surface. They will stay as clean as your pots and pans if you service them as often.
