Dropped something in my stove coil burner hole thing. Is it safe to use?

I was chopping up some green onion near the stove, and one of the pieces flew into the hole at the centre bottom of the round coil burner. Should I be concerned? Will it catch fire when I turn on that burner, or should I try and get it out myself or call my landlord?

The green onion may get a bit toasty, but otherwise you should be ok.
If you been cooking already, make sure the stove has cooled off before doing this. Talking about coils makes me assume you have an electric stove.
You can usually lift the entire stovetop, and retrieve whatever got under there. Then again, if it has been a while, you may want to do some cleaning while you are at it.
On some electric stoves, the burners will swing up and you can remove the drip pans for cleaning. Try lifting the burner to see if this works. This should happen fairly easily, if the burners are going to move. Or else, the burner units can be unplugged for cleaning the stove. Gently, but firmly pull the burners out. Now remove the drip pans.
Did you find your wayward green onions?
Or did you find a real mess? Maybe the stove does need some serious cleaning. (I hope not, but sometimes you just gotta do it.
